'All political parties to jointly evolve economic, security agenda'

KARACHI: PML-N Chief and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said all political parties should by consensus jointly evolve comprehensive economic and security national agenda in order to steer the country out of "present serious financial and economic crisis."
"Irrespective of which party wins the next elections, the comprehensive national agenda should be implemented," PML-N Chief said while addressing industrialists here.
"We first need to put our house in order," he stressed. Nawaz Sharif warned that "in case there was any (military) take over it would further deteriorate the prevailing situation in the country. There is now independent judiciary and people would get justice.
"He said PML-N was finalizing taxation proposals under which the number of tax payers would be increased as well as reducing tax rate which in turn would result in collecting more revenue.
He said President Asif Ali Zardari had what he called as "disappointed the nation. He (Zardari) got opportunity to serve the nation. I regret that he failed to deliver.
"Earlier, Nawaz Sharif, accompanied by his party leaders Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Saleem Zia went to a local hospital to inquire about the health of PML-F Chief Pir Pagaro and met his son.
