Mulla Omar, Zawahiri not in Balochistan: Raisani


QUETTTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani on Thursday denied existence of Quetta Shura and presence of Mulla Omar and Ayman Al Zawahiri on Balochistan’s soil.

Talking to US Envoy Cameron Munter here, he said a stable and prosperous Pakistan inevitable for regional peace and said it is appropriate time for Pakistan to launch efforts to improve relations with the neighboring countries for prosperity of its people.
He said we want to bring aggrieved quarters in mainstream through adopting reconciliation policy as agitation and conflict do not help resolve problems. He accused of some elements for fanning sectarian differences to grind their own vested interests and said Islam does not encourage shedding the blood of innocent people.
Later, the US envoy condoled with the chief minister death of his nephew Nawabzadah Haqmal Raisani. Talking to the Balochistan Assembly Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani here at his chamber on Thursday, the US ambassador called for the long-term commitment of the United States for development in Balochistan.
He said the United States was delighted to be the friend of Pakistan. He said that the US was always happy to assist the provincial government for completion of development projects launched in various sectors.
While lauding the hospitality of the people of Balochistan, he said that he had been accorded warm welcome by the masses of Balochistan whenever he visited the province. Speaker Balochistan Assembly M Aslam Bhootani said that the US ambassador’s visit to the provincial assembly demonstrates America’s support for the democratic institutions in Pakistan. He told Cameron that Gwadar port has a potential but due to the lack of basic infrastructure and road network the trade activities do not get boost in Balochistan.
