MULTAN: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday reiterated his position that the PPP would move forward on the Seraiki province after the committee formed to deliberate on the matter completes its recommendations.
“We are speaking to the stakeholders, and will resolve all conflicts concerning this issue,” said the Prime Minister while speaking to the media on a trip to Multan, his home town.The prime minister’s trip seemed geared towards building up support in Multan, the largest city in southern Punjab.
Gilani inaugurated the Northern and Southern bypass, along with the Ring Road in Multan and laid the foundation for a gymkhana.
The prime minister also took credit for the government’s ability to create a consensus on moving forward with the construction of Bhasha dam, drawing a sharp contrast between that agreement and the controversy that has plagued the Kalabagh dam proposal for decades.
“I have been hearing about the Kalabagh dam ever since I can remember,” said the premier on Friday. Gilani said he was completely satisfied with the country’s economic situation, adding that Pakistan at present had the highest foreign reserves in its history.
