Altaf Hussain calls President: agree to play role for strengthening of democracy in country

The distance between ruling party PPP and MQM seem to be narrowing as both President Asif Ali Zardari and MQM chief Altaf Hussain have agreed to play their role for the development, prosperity and strengthening of democracy in the country. The agreement was made in a telephonic conversation held between the two leaders.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Chief Altaf Hussain in his telephonic conversation with President Asif Ali Zardari and thanked him for sending a bouquet and inquiring about his health.
According to MQM spokesman, the talks between Altaf Hussain and Asif Ali Zardari continued for about 45 minutes in which both the leaders agreed on promotion of democracy and progress of the country.
Earlier, another round of talks between Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad and the PPP team was held at the Governor’s House to strike a deal regarding the MQMís return to the government, reported a private TV channel.
Former law minister Babar Awan headed the PPP team and Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani accompanied him as a member. The talks continued for more than two hours and the governor briefed the visitors about the outcome of his talks with Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, held on Saturday.
The sources claimed that the issue of portfolios for the MQM ministers also came under discussion. Insiders claimed that the talks were held in a friendly atmosphere. The Sindh governor conveyed to the PPP team a message of the MQM leadership regarding the ongoing political situation and operation in Karachi.
On the other hand Altaf Hussain besides the president also held telephonic conversations with Prime Minister Gilani and Interior Minister Rehman Malik the other day. In view of the speedy contacts between the two parties it doesn’t seem long when the two parties would again forge an alliance.
